Pros of the Death Penalty

Although it might be difficult for some to imagine, there are advantages to the death penalty. Some of these advantages include closure for the families of the victims, an added deterrent for committing crimes, and it aids the problem of overpopulation in prisons. The biggest advantage to the death penalty however, is the certainty that the culprit will never have the opportunity to perform murder again. Although unlikely, if a killer is on parole or has escaped from prison, they are likely to murder again due to their anger from being put in prison, and since they are out of jail they most likely will. Had the killer been subject to the death penalty, it would never be a worry. Not only does it give the victim's families peace of mind that the killer is not able to do that to anyone ever again as forementioned, but they also know that the one who took their family member's life has also had their life taken as well, which makes some feel better about the situation. As far as the added deterrent for committing crimes goes, if a budding murderer knows that their life may be taken as well, they might be less likely to commit the crime in the first place. These are the pros of the death penalty.
